A program recommended for 4 and 5 year olds to teach the fundamentals of hitting and fielding. All batters will hit the ball from a batting tee which is adjusted to height that allows for a level swing. All players present for the game bat in order each inning as well as play a defensive position in each of the four innings. Towards the end of the season, the basics of coach pitch will be introduced into one inning of each game if agreed upon by both teams. Adult coaches are stationed on the field to provide instruction. The primary goal is to begin to teach young players the fundamentals of baseball in a supportive team setting while preparing the players for the next level (Prep). The T- Ball level will use 50 foot bases. Players should have their own glove for T-Ball. Purchasing of your own baseball bat is optional as they are provided by the league.

Adult coaches are stationed on the field to provide instruction.  The Prep League continues teaching the fundamentals of the game of baseball in a safe, supportive team environment while preparing the players for the next level (Minors). The Minors League is a coach pitch / kid pitch combo league designed primarily for 8 year olds to prepare for advancing to full kid pitch in the fall. The Minors League is designed to expand upon the fundamentals of hitting and fielding learned at the previous levels.  All players present for the game bat in order each inning as well as play a defensive position in each inning.  Adult coaches are stationed on the field to provide instruction.  Each game will feature 2 innings of coach pitch and 2 innings of kid pitch throughout the season. This allows the players to begin to get a feel for pitching which they may want to do at the next level of play. Batters cannot walk against kid pitching, if a 4 ball count happens, a coach will step in to finish the at-bat. The Minors level continues teaching the fundamentals of the game of baseball in a safe, supportive team environment.  The Minors League will use 60 foot bases. Players will need to have their own glove and bat.

       1. The player’s birthdate is “In-Season” (May, June, or July)

       2. The player previously played baseball for SPYA

       3. The coach of the previous year’s team recommends that the player “Play-Up”.

If all 3 conditions are met, and with the approval of the SPYA Baseball Commissioner, the player will register at the appropriate age level using the online registration system and will be moved to the next age level where the player will play for that season.
